PING PONG

Ping Pong also known as Table tennis is a very old sport originally believed to have originated in England in 1880’s. It comes under racquet sport category and it is normally played indoors but can be played outdoors too. The game is played on a hard table called the Ping Pong table which has a net at the center. The things required to play a game of Ping Pong are: A set of rackets, a ball and a Ping Pong table. Concept wise it is more or less like Tennis but the rules are slightly different. Usually there are two or four players playing the game at one time who pass a hollow ball to each other with rackets. The player must not let the ball bounce more than once on their side of the table and has to hit the ball back so it bounces on the opponent’s side of the table. A player scores a point in case the opponent fails to return the ball according to the rules of Ping Pong.

Ping Pong is a fast game and requires swift action from the players. A skilled player can use different techniques and varieties to send the ball back to make the game difficult. Ping Pong is a very famous racket sport with more than 300 million active players around the globe. Ping Pong or Table tennis was included in the list of Olympic Sports since 1988. The Olympic Ping Pong events include the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s double and women’s doubles. There are many international events around the year where different Ping Pong championships are held.
